The Rx.com Mod Team has created this Service Play sub-forum in order to supply an area for Rx Service Play Posters to expand upon their posting topics without creating a logjam in the main forum where the three principle threads are maintained..

Posters can track services here if they care to but we will need any trackers to do so in an accurate and civil manner. We did not create this area for posters to ridicule or bash any services..

You can also discuss who is hot and who is not. The general state of the pay for plays industry and any other subject or topic related to service plays.

You can also create individual threads about specific services and discuss them freely but civilly. Again bashing and abusive treatment of any services will not be tolerated.

Please remember, this forum is not here for regular posters who cap their own games to post ther daily plays. Please use our individual sport forums to post your plays. Professional cappers (those that sell plays) must remain in the Site Promotion Forum.

The Rx.com will not tolerate posters that post false records of any services they track. Please be truthful if you decide to track a particular service.

Lastly The Rx Moderators are appealing to you our everyday posters to report any promotional threads or posts that are made by services or individual touts. No links or contact information to an individual service will be allowed. Just the name of the service. Please report any threads or posts that are promotional attempts by services and touts to use this forum to promote themselves..

Posters can easily report a promotional post by using the triangular Report-a-Post Icon at the bottom left of all post boxes. The poster name of any poster who reports a post that is out of line will be kept strictly confidential.

I will leave this thread open for a month to take questions and do my best to answer them. I will check in daily but am off on Wednesday and Thursday.

I hope this additional Service Play Forum will satisfy those posters that would like to widen the scope of topics relating to service plays and the industry in general to have their own threads. Mods will be liberal as possible regarding topics but this forum was specifically created to allow you more freedom to express your ideas regarding service plays and related subject matter. No off topic threads will be allowed.

Thank you, wilheim

Streaking and Slumping Pitchers

Streaking

Wandy Rodriguez, Houston Astros (9-11, 4.18 ERA)

Wandy Rodriguez had a rough start to the year, winning just three of his first 14 starts. Now he’s doing his best to make everyone forget all about that by losing just once over his last nine trips to the hill. Over that span he allowed more than three runs only once while blanking his opposition three times.

Slumping

Tom Gorzelanny, Chicago Cubs (6-6, 3.65 ERA)

Gorzelanny hasn’t been terrible lately, but he hasn’t pitched the Cubs into the win column in any of his last three starts, sporting a 5.59 ERA over that stretch. Giving up big innings continues to plague the Cubs’ lefty. He gave up three runs in the first inning against the Giants last week before eventually taking the no-decision in a 5-4 loss. On the bright side, Gorzelanny has thrown at least six innings in each of his last half dozen starts.

Shaun Marcum, Toronto Blue Jays (10-6, 3.87 ERA)

Marcum was roughed up in each of his last two outings, allowing 13 runs over that span and had an awful night against the Red Sox last Wednesday. He needed 36 pitches just to get out of the first inning and allowed four dingers – the most he’s ever given up in a single start in the bigs. He leads the Jays with 10 wins after missing all of last season as he rehabbed his surgically reconstructed elbow.

Hot Lines: Today's best MLB bets

Texas Rangers at Tampa Bay Rays (100, 7)

Offense is something the Texas Rangers haven’t had to worry about this season. Their .275 team batting average ranks third in the show, while their 4.98 runs per game average is good for fourth overall in the league. But at least recently that potent attack hasn't looked quite as menacing.

Outfielder Nelson Cruz left Saturday’s game with a left hamstring problem. The team hasn’t released any information about the injury, but will certainly miss his bat if he’s out for a while. Cruz was hitting .320 with 16 homers and 64 RBIs.

Meanwhile, Vladimir Guerrero is sputtering at the dish and Ian Kinsler is still on the DL, so the timing of this latest injury is far from ideal. Texas has managed more than four runs just twice over its last six games.

And to make matters worse, Texas will spend the night dealing with David Price’s nasty stuff. The 6-foot-6, 255-pound lefty was a little off in his last start, going just five innings on 115 pitches, but did strike out nine Tigers and picked up his 15th win of the year.

Pick: Rangers

Toronto Blue Jays at Oakland Athletics (-140, 7)

If the Toronto Blue Jays are going to have any hope keeping pace with the rest of the beefed-up AL East, they’re going to need Shaun Marcum at the top of his game.

Unfortunately for Jays bettors, Marcum’s picked a terrible time for a slump. He allowed four dingers against the Boston Red Sox in Wednesday’s 10-1 blowout loss as a -110 favorite and has now given up 13 runs over his last two outings.

“It was one of those days when I didn’t locate anything at all,” Marcum told reporters after Wednesday’s game. “My mechanics felt off a little bit, but that’s no excuse. I’ve still got to make pitches and try to find out a way to grind out innings and limit those guys to a lower amount of runs over there.

Apparently, Marcum’s surgically reconstructed elbow doesn’t have anything to do with his recent struggles, but it’s definitely something Toronto brass will keep an eye on.

The Jays have handled the A’s pretty well this year and Marcum’s in a good spot to bounce back against Oakland’s brutal offense. The A’s average just over four runs per game.

Pick: Blue Jays

Bettors' best friend: Monday's wagering tips

Lines to keep an eye on

Giants at Jets: Jets opened as 1-point favorites and now sit at -2.5 at most books.

Weather to watch

Jets at Giants: 40 percent chance of thunderstorms or showers.

Mariners at Orioles: 40 percent chance of thunderstorms.

Tigers at Yankees: 40 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms.

Dodgers at Braves: 30 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms.

Who’s hot

Atlanta Braves are 40-16 at home.

Tampa Bay is 15-5 in its last 20 home games.

Under is 20-7-2 in Texas’ last 29 games

Who’s not

Detroit Tigers are 18-36 on the road.

Pittsburgh Pirates are 16-45 in their last 61 overall.

Seattle Mariners are 17-42 in their last 59 road games.

New York Mets are 7-19 in their last 26 road games.

Key stat

.237: The Seattle Mariners are hitting just .237 as a team this year, which has helped under bettors cash in big. The Mariners have played under the total 63 times, just one fewer than the Baltimore Orioles’ league-leading 64. The M’s and O’s kick off a three-game set Monday.

Injury that shouldn’t be overlooked

Nelson Cruz: The Texas Rangers’ outfielder left Saturday’s game with a hamstring problem and will have an MRI Monday for precautionary reason. Cruz was hitting .320 with 16 homers and 64 RBIs. The team hopes he’ll be back in the lineup Monday following the MRI.

Game of the day

New York Giants at New York Jets (-2.5, 33.5)

Notable quotes

"I'm looking forward to being a better person. Right now, the plan is I'm going to be going to [an] anger management program. And I cannot speak about the legal stuff that we're going through right now. I just want to apologize."

New York Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez told reporters after he was arrested last week for an incident involving his girlfriend's father.

Tips and notes

Rays rookie righthander Jeremy Hellickson improved to 3-0 in as many starts on Sunday but will not be a permanent part of the Tampa Bay starting rotation, manager Joe Maddon told the St. Petersburg Times on Sunday. Hellickson will be moved to the bullpen when injured starters Wade Davis and Jeff Niemann return from the 15-day disabled list later this month. Hellickson will likely start again Friday.

The Boston Red Sox are slowly but surely getting healthy. Second baseman Dustin Pedroia will return to the big-league team on Tuesday after a brief rehab stint at Triple-A Pawtucket, according to WEEI.com. Pedroia, who is recovering from a broken foot, told the web site: "We don't have time for [making sure everything's perfect]. We're in a pennant race. I've got to try to get back in there, and I'll figure it out." Pedroia was batting .292 with 12 home runs and 41 RBIs for the Red Sox this season before suffering the injury.

A two-week study by ESPN's "Outside the Lines" showed that one in every five close calls were missed by Major League Baseball umpires. The study reviewed every umpire's call in all 184 games from June 29-July 11, excepting balls and strikes, and found that an average of 1.3 calls per game were close enough to require replay review. Of those calls, replay showed 65.7 percent were made correctly, 13.9 percent remained too close to call and 20.4 percent of those calls were shown to be incorrect. Bettors probably know this stat all too well.

Monday Night Football: Giants at Jets

Who’s in, who’s out

The star of this game will be the New Meadowlands Stadium, the shiny new building shared by both teams. This is the first football game played in the building, though there has already been a soccer game.

For the Jets, the story is the absence of Darrelle Revis. He’s holding out and it’s a clear distraction for the team. Barring a last-minute miracle, that distraction will loom over this game.

The Jets have added a lot of new faces (and giant egos) this offseason and bettors should get a good look at them in this game. Jets coach Rex Ryan said that several starters, including first-team quarterback Mark Sanchez and new acquisitions LaDainian Tomlinson and Santonio Holmes, will play beyond the first quarter.

Sanchez will test his surgically repaired knee for the first time but won't stay in long enough to jeopardize it. That means that it will be left to the ancient Mark Brunell to knock off the cobwebs and Kellen Clemens to try to maintain his very tenuous hold on a roster spot.

This game will show us just how poorly the Giants have managed their QB depth chart. Eli Manning will play the standard opening quarter or so and then leave it to his backups. The thought of those backups must terrify Giants’ fans.

Jim Sorgi comes from years of mopping up for one Manning brother in Indianapolis to take over for another. The best thing you can say about him is that he has lots of experience playing in the preseason because Peyton hates August football. Rhett Bomar is the third choice.

Line movement

The line has shifted steadily toward the Jets after they opened as a one-point favorite. They are currently -2.5 at most books. The total isn’t going anywhere.

Trends

Rex Ryan started strong last year. He covered three of four spreads in the preseason. Tom Coughlin has a winning record in the preseason in his six years with the Giants, but is just 4-6-2 ATS in the last three preseasons and is coming off an ugly 1-3 ATS August last year.

Weather

It should be dry and pleasant for the debut of the new stadium. The forecast is for temperatures in the low 80s and little chance of rain.

NFL BETTING TIPS AND NOTES
Preseason Profit Report

Preseason Report

NFC EAST

Dallas Cowboys
Head Coach: Wade Phillips – 3rd year

In his first three years as the Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips showed no interest at all in trying to win when Dallas has taken to the road going 1-5. Definitely a strong trend to also follow here this preseason is that the Cowboys do not come with a 100% effort in their dress rehearsal game going a perfect 0-3 under Phillips. A perfect play that fits both scenarios here is when Dallas visits Houston on Aug. 28.

Probable preseason quarterback rotations: Tony Romo, Jon Kitna, Stephen McGee and Matt Nichols (rookie-Eastern Washington)

New York Giants
Head Coach: Tom Coughlin – 7th year

Head coach Tom Coughlin has always stressed defense when it comes to winning in the regular season. However things sure changed last season starting in the preseason as three of the four Giants games went ‘over’ the total. This trend sure continued in the regular season with 12 of their 16 games seeing the over being the right side. So let’s look for this trend to continue this year especially in their opening game as they open their new stadium against the Jets on Aug. 16.

Probable preseason quarterback rotations: Eli Manning, Jim Sorgi, Rhett Bomar

Philadelphia Eagles
Head Coach: Andy Reid – 12th year

Under Andy Reid the Eagles have some solid recent trends that can show a nice profit this preseason. First off the Eagles are 3-9 ATS over the past four years in the preseason, and are also on a 7-0 run with the over being the right side. Plus my favorite Philadelphia preseason play is that Reid doesn’t go all out in the first preseason game of the year going a perfect 0-6 in their opener not winning their first preseason game since 2003. The Eagles open up this year against Jacksonville at home on Aug. 13.

Probable preseason quarterback rotations: Kevin Kolb, Michael Vick and Mike Kafka (rookie-Northwestern)

Washington Redskins
Head Coach: Mike Shananan – 1st year

Everything changes in the preseason for the Redskins with Shananan taking over as head coach. Shananan is one of the winningest coaches in the preseason. Especially in his final preseason game where Shananan has always played this game to win, and is on an 8-1 ATS run. This year’s finale is on Sept. 2 on the road against a Cardinals team that has lost their closing preseason game the last four years.

Probable preseason quarterback rotations: Donovan McNabb, Rex Grossman, Colt Brennan, Richard Bartel

NFC NORTH

Chicago Bears
Head Coach: Lovie Smith – 7th year

The Bears under Lovie Smith Have seen things open up offensively over the past three preseason slates, with the ‘over’ going 9-3. Plus just the opposite can be said in the Bears last preseason game where Lovie just wants to get through this game seeing the ‘under’ go 6-1 over the past seven years. So watch for some high-scoring Chicago games early in the preseason, and then a low-scoring affair in their preseason finale against the Browns on Sept. 2.

Probable preseason quarterback rotations: Jay Cutler, Caleb Hanie, Brett Basanez, and Dan LeFevour (rookie-Central Michigan)

Detroit Lions
Head Coach: Jim Schwartz – 2nd year

Last year in my preseason profit report I told you that the defensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans the last eight seasons Jim Schwartz took over as the new head coach of the 0-16 Lions. Look for Detroit with the new mind set of every new coach with defensive ties to highlight the run and strengthen the defense to play a bunch of fast moving low-scoring games this preseason. Well three of the four Lions’ preseason games went ‘under’ the total. So let’s look for more of the same in Detroit’s preseason games going forward here.

Probable preseason quarterback rotations: Matthew Stafford, Drew Stanton, and Shaun Hill

Green Bay Packers
Head Coach: Jim McCarthy – 5th year

In his first four years as the Packers head coach Mike McCarthy has just been around a .500 preseason coach, so no real advantages to jump on here. However a solid trend has developed that has seen the Packers incorporate a wide open game-plan over the past four years that has seen the ‘over’ go an impressive 12-4 in the preseason. Plus have to add in here is that under McCarthy the Packers really open things up in their final preseason game seeing the ‘over’ go a perfect 4-0 over the past four seasons.

Probable preseason quarterback rotations: Aaron Rogers, Matt Flynn, and Graham Harrell

Minnesota Vikings
Head Coach: Brad Childress – 5th year

In his first four years as the head coach of the Vikings, Brad Childress has started to show us some strong trend that can help us make some money this preseason. It’s obvious that Childress does not care about the opening preseason game as he just goes thru the motions losing three of four openers as head coach. However he sure turns things around going all out in Week 2, seeing the Vikings go a perfect 4-0. So let’s fade them in Week 1 against the Rams, and make them a solid play in Week 2 against the 49ers.

Probable preseason quarterback rotations: Brett Favre, Tarvaris Jackson, Sage Rosenfels, and Joe Webb (rookie-UAB)

NFC SOUTH

Atlanta Falcons
Head Coach: Mike Smith – 3rd year

One of my favorite preseason plays goes here on the Falcons as in their 'dress rehearsal' game the last six years the Falcons have gone a perfect 6-0 outscoring their opposition 148-69. This year’s 'dress rehearsal' game for the Falcons will be on Aug. 27 when they play Miami on the road. With the Dolphins playing well in the preseason as of late I can see us getting a real value play on Atlanta in this spot as a nice sized ‘dog.

Probable preseason quarterback rotations: Matt Ryan, Chris Redman and John Parker Wilson

Carolina Panthers
Head Coach: John Fox – 9th year

As John Fox has progressed as head coach the Panthers he has taken the preseason less seriously and is on a 3-10 ATS run as of late. One extremely strong trend that I have uncovered is when the Panthers play their annual final preseason game against the Steelers. In this game both coaches have agreed to just get finished with this game without any injuries and the majority of the plays are on the ground which eats up the clock quickly making for a low-scoring game. In the last four years this game has seen the ‘under’ the right side going a perfect 4-0. Write this one down as these two teams meet once again in Pittsburgh on Sept. 2.

Probable preseason quarterback rotations: Matt Moore, Jimmy Clausen (rookie-Notre Dame), Hunter Cantwell and Tony Pike (rookie-Cincinnati)

New Orleans Saints
Head Coach: Sean Payton – 5th year

With the Saints coming off of their Super Bowl win I don’t see Sean Payton doing much this preseason, especially with the Saints 2-6 exhibition record at home under Payton. However a nice value play for this upcoming preseason is that New Orleans has played a very low-scoring game in their finale going a perfect 5-0 ‘under’ in the last five, four of these under Payton. The only problem here is that they have to play a very high-scoring Titans team this year in their final warm up game.

Probable preseason quarterback rotations: Drew Bees, Chase Daniels and Sean Canfield (rookie-Oregon State)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Head Coach: Raheem Morris – 5th year

Raheem Morris took over as head coach of the Buccaneers last year. Prior to this Morris was on the Tampa Bay staff as the secondary coach. So he has been around to be a part of this overwhelming preseason trend. The Buccaneers have one of the top preseason trends that we look forward to every year. Tampa Bay has been a solid 7-1 in their opening preseason game the last eight years. Plus in Morris’s first year as head coach he sure wasn’t interested in playing defense allowing 87 in the Buccaneers’ four preseason games with three of them easily going ‘over’ the total, something to again watch for this year.

Probable preseason quarterback rotations: Josh Freeman, Josh Johnson, Rudy Carpenter and Jevan Snead (rookie-Mississippi)

NFC WEST

Arizona Cardinals
Head Coach: Ken Whisenhunt – 4th year

In his three years as head coach of the Cardinals Ken Whisenhunt has given as some outstanding preseason trends to make some money with this year. Whisenhunt has shown no interest in winning his first or last preseason games going a perfect 0-6. So this year’s two plays to fade the Cardinals are against Houston on Aug. 14 and against the Redskins on Sept. 2.

Probable preseason quarterback rotations: Matt Leinatt, Derek Anderson, Max Hall (rookie-BYU) and John Skelton (rookie-Fordham)

San Francisco 49ers
Head Coach: Mike Singletary – 4th year

One thing you can sure say about the 49ers and that’s they sure show up in their dress rehearsal game over the past three seasons going a perfect 3-0 against the spread, and all three were as a underdog. This year’s opponent in their dress rehearsal game will be an Oakland Raiders team that has been outscored 69-7 the past two years when they play all their regulars in Week 3.

Probable preseason quarterback rotations: Alex Smith, David Carr, Nate Davis, and Jarret Brown (rookie-West Virginia)

Seattle Seahawks
Head Coach: Pete Carroll – 1st year

Even though this will be Pete Carroll’s first year as head coach of the Seahawks. It’s hard to go against one of the strongest current preseason trends as Seattle is on a perfect 10-0 ATS run. If you see the Seahawks start fast under Carroll jump on them the rest of the preseason especially with this very solid quarterback rotation.

Probable preseason quarterback rotations: Matt Hasselbeck, Charlie Whitehurst and J.P. Losman

St Louis Rams
Head Coach: Steve Spagnuolo – 2nd year

With Steve Spagnuolo taking over as head coach of the Rams last season he immediately installed the old Giants winning ways in the preseason, winning three games as an outright underdog. Let’s look for this trend to continue this year as Spagnuolo installs more of his kind of players on the St Louis roster.

Probable preseason quarterback rotations: A.J. Feely, Sam Bradford, Keith Null, and Thaddeus Lewis (rookie-Duke)

Hondo

Hondo had an easy day at the office yesterday as the Tribe breezed past the Mariners to lower the debt to 1,395 stanhouses.

Tonight, Mr. Aitch will offer some cheers for Cliffy -- as per the norm -- if the Rangers roll past the Rays. Ten units on Lee.

double-dime bet 282 NYJ -1.0 (-110) Bodog vs 281 NYG
Analysis: Jets battle the Giants in the pre-season opener for boƒth clubs - usually this game is scheduled in the latter weeks of exhibition session...NY Jets qualifying as a pre-season playoff virgin making a solo playoff appearance last year and these clubs are 37-19 ATS as favs of 3 < pts including 12-4 at Home and 21-9 playing into pre-season revenge...when these clubs are playing in their pre-season home-opener they improve to 8-0 ATS
